Introduction
Introduction of Fong-Yuan Elementary School at Taitung City, Taitung County
Fong-Yuan Elementary School, which was founded in 1964, is located in Fong-Yuan Village in the Taitung suburbs. Through a subsidy from the Ministry of Education, the ex-principal Zhang, Yue-Zhao, reconstructed the original building in January 2011. After the inauguration of the new school building in December 2011, it has been a tourist attraction, attracting tens of thousands of people since 2011. Featuring a Mediterranean design with blue and white colors, Fong-Yuan Elementary school sets an example for a new trend in school architecture.
There are six classes in the elementary school and one class in the nursery. There are 97 students and 17 school staff members in 2016, so Fong-Yuan elementary is quite small.
The current principal, Wu, Xiu-Jin, energetically cultivates language education, art education, and physical education in school. She makes a great effort to combine various resources in order to create a diverse learning environment for students. With the earnest instruction of teachers, the students have improved in reading and writing. For example, many of the students’ articles are selected and posted on Children’s Newspaper, and that motivates their enthusiasm about reading and writing, too. Additionally, we have a saxophone club, a ukulele club, and a dance class. We are engaged in cultivating our students’ appreciation of art and music. For physical training, we set up an archery team in 2012, and we practice after school.
We hope that our students gain an appreciation for the arts and humanities in such a graceful school. Through exploring their potential in a diverse learning environment, we hope our students will pursue their dreams in the future.
